Lash Lift

What is Lash Lifting?

It's a lifting technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions or lash curlers. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 6 to 8 weeks! To top it all off, we have an option of an eyelash tint application after the lash lift treatment. This tint will make your lashes appear darker & fuller. A lash lift is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!

How long does this treatment take?

Our lash lift treatment takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. The time taken to lift the lashes is different for every individual as it depends on the length and thickness of your lashes.

What are the preparations that is required before a lash lift treatment?

Kindly make sure that you are free of eye makeup when you come for your appointment. If you do have any makeup on, do use a water-based makeup remover. Also, you must stop usage of waterproof mascara at least 1 day prior to your lash lift treament. If you wear contacts, they must be removed during the treatment.

What is the differences between lash lifting and lash extensions?

Lash lifting and lash extensions are 2 completely different treatments. Lash lifting gives your lashes a naturally lifted look without applying any fake lashes onto your eyelids, while lash extensions makes your eyelashes look more dramatic as fake lashes will be applied onto your lashes. With that being said, lash lifting will make your lashes look fuller and longer as the lash lift treatment lifts up your lashes.

What is the aftercare after a lash lift treatment?

Don't get your lashes wet or apply anything at all to them for 24 hours. Kindly avoid activities like yoga, swimming, gym-ing. In addition, kindly set your facials 24 hours after the treatment. Water, vapour, and heat will affect the lash lift. Please brush out your lashes daily ( if you can ) to make it appear full and neat at all times.

Is there any maintenance required after a lash lift treatment?

None at all. You don't have to do anything special with your lashes in between your lash lift treatment other than giving them a good brush out daily.

Can I still wear mascara after a lash lift treatment?

Of course, you can apply mascara without any hesitation. You'll just achieve a more dramatic effect when mascara is applied to your curled lashes.

Have you been trained for this service?

I am trained and certified by SAF's Lash Lifting & Tint Course and the Sugarlash Pro Academy.

How is this treatment any different than a lash perm?

A lash perm treatment uses tiny little cotton/metal rods to curl your lashes, which can give your lashes a more inverted C shaped curl. Usually, this will make your lashes appear curler, but at the same time, shorter as well. A lash lift treatment uses silicone domed shield that lifts the lashes from the root, producing a beautiful, uplifted look. Your lashes will appear naturally longer and slightly curled up, just as if you were to use a good quality lash curler.

Can I get this treatment done if I'm pregnant?

It’s safe to do so after first trimester, however, it is advised to contact us first before booking an appointment. This is because the hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause eitheir hair fall or hair growth. Sometimes, the lash lift effect does not lasts on pregnant women as well. Don't worry, talk to us first and we will consult you before you confirm your appointment with us.

Will the lash lift treatment damage my eyelashes?

Not to worry, this treatment will not damage your lashes. If you do follow the preparation steps before the treatment and the aftercare, that'll be better for your lashes too! The lash lifting solutions is only applied to the new growth area of the lashes, down towards the base and upwards, never towards the roots of the lashes.

Is the lash lift treatment painful?

It is not a painful treatment. At first, when I'm applying the shields to the eyelids, it may feel slightly uncomfortable. But, for the most part, it's very relaxing! You just sit back and relax :)

I have downward-pointing lashes, will this be a good treatment for me?

Of course! Anyone with these types of pesky lashes will love the lash lift! After the treatment, your lashes will all be evenly dispersed and beautifully lifted.

How long does the lash lift treatment last?

Depending on the length and quality of your natural lashes, the lift can last for 6 to 8 weeks.

I have very short lashes. Am I still able to get a lash lift treatment?

Most of the time, yes. Though it can be challenging if the lashes aren't even long enough to bring up and back on to the shield, but I would say , give it a shot once and see how you do.

I have glaucoma, can I get a lash lift treatment?

Yes. If ever in doubt, always consult with your physician.

I've recently had blepharoplasty surgery, can I get a lash lift treatment?

You need to wait at least 1 year from your surgery. It has been my experience with clients who have had this surgery that there is an increased sensitivity in the eye area for quite a while. You need to give yourself that time to heal first. After that, you can consult with your physician to be sure.

I've recently had lasik surgery, can I get a lash lift treatment?

Yes, but you need to wait at least 6 months. As always, when in doubt, please consult with your physician.

Chronic dry eye, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (this treatment may make the gaps more noticeable), active eye infections of any kind, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), recent chemo treatments (you will need to wait at least a year from your last treatment. When in doubt, always consult with your physician.)

BB Glow

What technique does Beauty Studio 101 use for their BB Glow Facial Treatment?

Beauty Studio 101 uses the Nano Needling Therapy System. This method improves your skin's product absorption by 97%. It is a safe procedure with no downtime as the tips does not invade the dermis of your skin.

When should I do this treatment?

BB Glow Facial is a perfect treatment to even out your skin tone and gives it a radiant look. Since we are using the Nano Needling method, this treatment has no downtime and it is the perfect treatment for special occasions.

What is the difference between Micro-Needling and Nano-Needling?

Both Nano-Needling & Micro-Needling provides a similar solution as the techniques are using a needling pen to penetrate the BB ampoules into your skin. The main difference between Micro-Needling and Nano-Needling is the depth of the needles. Nano-needling only penetrates into the first layer of the skin (epidermis) while Micro-needling punctures deep into the dermis of your skin. If you are concerned about fine lines, redness, swelling, dark pigmentation, sagging skin and dullness, then our BB Glow treatment is perfect for you.

Is BB Glow Safe?

BB Glow can be safely performed on all skin types and colors. There is no risk of post-inflammatory or hyper-pigmentation as the melanocytes remain intact. This is because we use the Nano-needling technique for our BB Glow treatment and it does not puncture the dermis of your skin. This treatment is highly effective if you’re hoping to reduce the appearance of fine lines (especially around the eyes and lips), improve the tone and texture of your skin, shrink the appearance of your pore size, reduce pigmentation or lift and firm the skin.

What is the difference of at home “needle-rollers/derma-rollers” and a Professional treatment?

Most of the at-home needling devices use a rolling wheel. It does help to stimulate the growth of new collagen and elastin, however, it can cause injury to the dermis of your skin. Aside from at-home needling devices being sold with no training or protocol, there are a couple of concerns for the potential risks of using one. Professional needling pens use disposable tips which decrease the risk of infection and contamination. At home, rollers are reusable devices that most people would not think to sterilize. The width & depth of the needles also plays a huge factor in the treatment. Your at-home needling devices are sold on a roller and because of that, they are not penetrating into your skin on a flat surface and instead are rolling/gliding into your skin on an angle. This action can cause microscopic tears and could leave you with scarring, granulomas, and skin more damaged than what you started with. You cannot get needling treatments too often, especially the ones that punctures the dermis of your skin. If you don’t allow your skin to rejuvenate itself, you will eventually break down and damage the formation of your collagen and elastin. Professional needling pens can penetrate the skin on a flat surface as well as doing multiple passes without creating the same channel twice or tearing the skin.

Who is this procedure NOT good for?

Keloid or raised scarring, pregnancy, herpes simplex infections, any facial injections within the past 10 days, patients on any blood thinners, Immune-suppression diseases, scars less than 6 months old and raised moles, warts or raised lesions. Treatment cannot be performed if the following is present: Any open cuts, wounds, abrasions, and active acne or cold sores.

Eyebrow Embroidery

What is Eyebrow Embroidery?

Eyebrow Embroidery is an eyebrow enhancement treatment. A semi-permanent pigment is pushed into the surface of the skin with a thin needle to mimic your natural eyebrow hair. This will result in a bolder looking eyebrows. At Beauty Studio 101, we use the Microshading technique for our Eyebrow Embroideries. Microshading gives your eyebrows a soft, natural powdered look, just as if you drew your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil. We use a manual hand tool to create tiny dots of pigment on your brows to create volume on your eyebrows.

Does this procedure hurt?

Pain tolerance varies from person to person. A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream is used for numbing before and during your procedure. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Most clients have compared the procedure with eyebrow threading or a light scratching of the skin. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort as your skin can be hypersensitive. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.

Do my natural brows have to be shaved or removed?

No! We will keep all of your natural brow hair. However, a brow shaping will be necessary to get rid of any sparse hairs that would take away from the shape we are creating.

How long does an Eyebrow Embroidery (Microshading) procedure take?

Our Eyebrow Embroidery ( Microshading ) procedure takes about 2 hours & 30 minutes. It is important to complete both the initial procedure and the touch up. First appointment: The initial procedure takes approximately 2 hours. During this time, a consultation is done where we discuss your desired brow look, choose a color tone and draw the initial outline of the procedure area for your approval. Though our faces are NOT perfectly symmetrical (one side is usually flatter than the other), we do our very best to create as much symmetry as possible. As we like to say brows are sisters, not twins. Once you are satisfied with the basic shape and symmetry, the area is then traced over and the semi-permanent pigment is applied with a disposable hand tool. This procedure uses a manual hand tool and not a machine. Future appointments: The second stage of the treatment is to touch up your existing microshaded eyebrows. This is because, over time, your eyebrow embroidery will fade. The touch up that takes approximately 1 hour and is included in your service. Touch-ups are done no earlier than 5 weeks of your initial procedure and no later than 10 weeks. If you do not schedule your touchup within 10 weeks, you will be required to pay a touch-up fee outlined in our touchup schedule. You should complete the touch-up treatment. Without it, the results will not be optimal. Colour will fade significantly within 4 weeks as the skin heals, peels and fades. The touch up corrects any irregularities in the microshaded hair strokes, color tones and finishes the process. **Occasionally a third touch up (4-6 weeks later) is necessary for certain clients where the pigment does not stick well to the skin.**

How long will it last?

Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and need to be refreshed every 1-2 years. The timeline of sessions depends on a number of factors including the pigment colour used (lighter colours fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure) and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. Multiple sessions are normal for microblading procedures, with each new procedure requiring a minimum of 2 visits. Your second session should be booked within 8-12 weeks of the initial session. Factors that will cause your microbladed brow tattoo fade faster: • Iron deficiency • Sun exposure • Exfoliants • Strong immune systems • Exposure to salt water • Smoking

How long does it take to heal?

It takes about 2 weeks for the layers of the skin to heal. Your brows will be fully healed after 6-8 weeks. The first 2 - 4 days your brows will look darker as the skin is healing. Light peeling will start around days 5-10, which will reveal lighter and softer hair strokes. If this is your initial appointment, by the 6-8 week mark you will notice your brows have faded 40-60%, which is why a second appointment is necessary.

How do you choose a colour?

We choose a colour by applying small amounts of different coloured pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. As a rule of thumb, we closely match the color of your brow hair rather than your current hair color for the most natural results.

Can I have my brows done if I'm pregnant?

During pregnancy, it is best to not get this procedure done. This is because it may cause skin infections due to fluctuating hormones.

Can you microshade over an existing eyebrow tatto

Microblading can be done over an existing brow tattoo, however the old tattoo must be significantly faded for the hair strokes to show through and look natural. Kindly inform us if you have an existing tattoo and show us a picture to determine if you are able to get a microshading procedure done.

Are there any side effects during or after the procedure?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This depends on the client. If you take blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding may occur. Bruising is rare but can occur. There is usually some tenderness for a few days. Please note : The results are very natural and makes your brows appear fuller. Right after the procedure, your brows will appear darker, but it will fade within two weeks while it is healing. It is crucial to get a touch up done to maintain optimum results. It’s difficult to predict how well your skin will retain the pigment as different skin types react to the pigment differently.
